Singing This SundayThe Wednesday Youth kids will sing during 10:30 service this Sunday, March 14. Children are asked to sit with their parents and they will be asked to come forward at the appropriate time. The youth will also sing Palm Sunday, March 28.CMF Dinner MeetingCMF (Christian Men's Fellowship) will hold their dinner meeting next Tuesday, March 16 at 6:00 pm at Crossroads. All men of the church are invited and encouraged to attend. CWF ladies will prepare the meal. The sign up sheet is located on the coffee table. For more information contact CMF president Wayne Baughman.Easter LiliesLilies will adorn the sanctuary for the Easter holiday. If you would like to purchase a lily in memory or in honor of a loved one(s) let the office know. Cost is $8. Deadline is March 26.Soapy Sunday!!!!!!!!!!It's time again for Soapy Sunday! This is where we accept non-food donations which will go to Two Rivers to assist families in need. We focus primarily on toiletries such as soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, etc. Lynn Ottwell at Two Rivers has said that they are running low on toilet paper and shampoo, but of course other items will be appreciated. We will be collecting items on March 21st and March 28th. There will be boxes or baskets in the overflow room to collect the items. Thanks in advance for your donations and God bless all. In other Outreach news, 17 fruit baskets were distributed this year. Thanks to all who helped with this outreach project.Holy Week EventsWe are planning special events for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. The days will involve a series of experiences focusing on Christ's last week and give time for refection. Watch for more information and sign up sheets as our plans continue to be made.Worship/Music CommitteeThe Worship/Music Committee will meet next Tuesday, March 16 at 7 pm. Agenda calls for discussing Holy Week events.Prayer VigilThe 24 Hour Prayer Vigil during Holy Week will begin at 7:00 pm Thursday, April 1 and conclude at 7:00 pm Friday, April 2. The sign up sheet will be in the overflow room this Sunday for your convenience. The vigil will be held in the Long Room. This will be a time for reflection and meditation as we recognize the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ.Graduation SundayPlease let the office know ASAP if you have someone graduating this spring so we can plan accordingly. The date for Graduation Sunday will be announced later.CWF Executive MeetingThe CWF Executive Committee will meet Tuesday, March 23 at 6 pm. Stop by the office to get a copy.IRS RulesThe Outreach Committee would like to thank everyone for their generous donations. We are able to help many people and do a lot of good programs for those in need. However, contributions designated towards individuals are not an income tax deduction for you, the donor, per IRS rules. The committee will determine how to allocate the donations each month. Contact the church if you know of someone in need and the committee will take that into consideration. The collection canister is on the west side of the fellowship hall.Campbell Soup LabelsInstead of the soup label fronts, cut out and save the Bar Code on the item only. Woodhaven is still able to "purchase" items to benefit the men and women they serve with items such as games, craft supplies, technology and more. Please save Bar Code from Campbell soup and Campbell products. Check with Ann Ferguson to see what enticing meals are offered this month!CWF ServicesCWF has nice durable dishcloths for sale through the church office. They cost $1.50 each. Also please cut off and save the fronts of all your greeting cards. There is a box outside Rebecca's office for your card fronts. Hilda Dunham bundles and mails these card fronts to a boy's ranch in Nevada where they make and sell lovely new cards from our recycled cards.Board Meeting ExcerptsThis is a summary only of the February 9, 2010 Board Minutes which are in draft stage and will be reviewed at the next regular meeting March 9, 2010. Copies of the Board Reports are available from the church office.Minister's Report-Michael prepared for the Elders Retreat, worked on Bylaw revisions, 1 Funeral, Baptism Class (6 individuals), 4 new members, Summer Meal Program, and attended a day Conference at Lincoln Community Christian College. Associate/Youth Minister's Report-Luke stated that he enjoyed preaching. He has started up the CYF small group study, directed the Mime Presentation, spent time with Youth and youth leaders, has begun planning for Easter Service with the youth, prepared for the new Children's Worship and training volunteers, and also worked on the High School Camp. Treasurer-Total receipts $5,000 ahead of budget. Total disbursements $2,000 under budget. Trustees-Board approved increasing the umbrella coverage. Christian Education- Plans continue for the new Children's Worship. Outreach-Samaritan's Purse and World Relief will receive the funds for Haiti relief. Approximately 20 Fruit Baskets will be distributed. 2 new mission/outreach projects will be promoted. Crossroads floor refinishing will be completed in May and June. Storage Pod will be ready once the temperature increases. Long Range Planning-Changes may be made to the Long Room to more accommodate Sunday and weekly needs. Motion to apply $20,000 from our unrestricted checking account to the Crossroads mortgage principal carried. Walking HoursThe walking hours at Crossroads are now from 8 am until 1 pm Monday through Friday. Special events may alter the schedule and will be posted.Wishes & WantsNone at this time. |
